   1  With the power and the help
   2  and the support of Rḥmnn,
   3  the lord of heaven
   4  and of his Anointed One,
   5  he has built the king
   6  ʾbrh, who is in
   7  Yemen, the king of Sa-
   8  baʾ and ḏū-Raydān
   9  and Ḥaḍramawt and
  10  Ymnt and their be-
  11  douins in the high-
  12  lands and the lowlands, the ʿw-
  13  dn in front of the building construction
  14  of S²rḥbʾl Yʿf-
  15  r. And he built it from
  16  its foundation, (that is to say) the bed-
  17  rock, up to its highest parts,
  18  forty-one
  19  cubits (high). And the lenght
  20  which extends in the direction of the wadi
  21  is forty-five
  22  cubits. And
  23  fourteen cubits is
  24  the width. And he carried out the work on its foundation
  25  before the month ḏ-
  26  Ḥltn in the year eight.
  27  And he has erected it with his
  28  followers as a building construction
  29  in dressed stone and plaster,

2[Raḥmānān] Wörtlich "der Barmherzige", womit der christliche Gott und vor den Ereignissen der Jahre 523-525 in den meisten Fällen der jüdische Gott gemeint ist. Ausführlich Nebes 2010 a: 35-40.
7-12Titulatur der ḥimyarischen Könige, die ʾAbreha, der äthiopische Vizekönig im Jemen, wieder aufnimmt.
12-13[ʿAw-[dān]] Dieser Begriff, mit dem das gesamte Auslaßbauwerk bezeichnet wird, bezieht sich an dieser Stelle nur auf dessen nördlichen Pfeiler.
13-14[Bauwerk] D.i. die Gesamtkonstruktion des Auslaßbauwerkes, die Šuraḥbiʾil Yaʿfur nach CIH 541/77 vollendet hat.

CULTURAL NOTES

Religion
"The text opens with the Christian invocation. However, in contrast to the open of CIH 541, which invokes the Holy Trinity, here only Raḥmānān and his Anointed One (ms¹ḥ-hw) appear, with no reference to the Holy Ghost" (Nebes).

Society
The text mentions a month named ḏ-Ḥltn ʾḫrn ("the Ḥltn the Latter"). Nebes states that this was an intercalary month, placed after ḏ-Ḥltn and before ḏ-Mʿn, thus supporting the hypothesis of the lunar character of the Himyarite year (De Blois), in contrast to the opinion of a solar year based on the Julian calendar (Beeston and Robin).
According to him, a lunar year would also perfectly explain the events reported in the other Abraha's text CIH 541 (see there the Cultural remarks).
