GENERAL NOTES

The typology of the text is based on the editors' interpretation of the word "kl": according to Robin and Ryckmans it should be considered a construction text, while according to Stein this is a nominal sentence with an implied verb (see the translation's notes).

TEXT

   1  Ms²kmm kl
   2  ms¹rt-hw

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Ms²kmm achieved (?)
   2  his covered hall (?).
1For kl, Robin and Ryckmans suggest a comparison with RES 4225, l.1 and Ja 842, l.3 and propose the interpretation of kl as a verb (kll: "achever"). Instead, Stein 2003 a: 196, n.248 considers the text a nominal sentence, with an implied verb ("... acquired / build all ...").
2For ms¹rt, the Robin and Ryckmans suggest a comparison with the Geez root SWR "cover, protect" because of the location of the inscription in a structure on the site, and prefer to exclude the roots S¹YR ("irrigate") and MS¹R ("find, clear"). The Sabaic Dictionary translates "wall".
