Apparatus
1Jamme proposes the integration qwl, but the plural ʾqwl is possible as well (cf. CIH 24 and the restoration proposed by Nāmī for Nāmī NAG 7=Ja 602, whose text is identical to Ja 601).
5, 10For Ḫwln Gddn, see Beeston 1973: 444 and Robin 2014 (in particular: 181-182).

TRANSLATIONS

English

1  ʾlrm Ygʿr, of the family S¹ḫymm, qwl of the tribe
2  S¹mʿy, the third of Hgrm, dedicated
3  to ʾlmqhw Ṯhwn, Lord of ʾwm, the two statues in praise
4  because ʾlmqh saved His servant ʾlrm in the two expeditions
5  they undertook to the land of Ḫwln Gddn, when
6  their lord Wtrm Yhʾmn, king of Sabaʾ and
7  ḏu-Raydān, son of ʾls²rḥ Yḥḍb, king of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān, ordered them to
8  exact reprisals on the tribes of Ḫwln for the offenses they had committed against
9  their lords the kings of Sabaʾ, and they defeated and routed those
10  tribes Ḫwln Gddn and their supporters, and they came back
11  in safety, success and good luck that satisfies their lord
12  Wtrm Yhʾmn, king of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān, and so that
13  ʾlmqh continues to grant His servant ʾlrm prosperity and
14  good luck and the satisfaction of their lord Wtrm Yhʾmn, king
15  of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān; may ʾlmqh grant His vassals, the family of
16  S¹ḫymm, soundness of faculties and material resources and good crops
17  and harvests in all their land; may ʾlmqh repel from
18  His vassals, the family of S¹ḫymm, any evil and harm and the malice and
19  the maleficence of any enemy. By ʿṯtr and Hwbs¹ and ʾlmqh and by ḏt
20  Ḥmym and by ḏt Bʿdnm and by their patron Tʾlb Rymm,
21  and they committed their dedication to ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm.
