TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Whbʾl Y[... ... of the family]
2  Yhʿn and Qrḍn, dedicated to
3  ʾlmqh Ṯhwn, Lord of ʾwm, the statue
4  in bronze in praise because He fulfilled
5  His servant Whbʾl, of the family Yhʿn
6  and Qrḍn, in all the favours he sought
7  from Him and so that ʾlmqh,
8  Lord of ʾwm, continues to fulfill His servant Whbʾl,
9  of the family Yhʿn and Qrḍn, in all the favours
10  he will continue to seek from Him, and because
11  ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm, saved and protected the person of
12  His servant Whbʾl, of the family Yhʿn and Qrḍn,
13  from the epidemic sickness and the pestilence and the fatal disease that took place in the
14  land in the first year of Ḥywm, son of ʾbkrb, of the family
15  Kbr Ḫll, and so that ʾlmqh,
16  Lord of ʾwm, continues to save the person of His servant
17  Whbʾl, of the family Yhʿn and Qrḍn, from any evil
18  and mischief and the malice and the maleficence of any enemy and
19  bad luck, and may ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm,
20  grant them the goodwill and the satisfaction of their lord Rbs²ms¹m Nmrn,
21  king of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān, and prosperity and good luck
22  that will satisfy them, and may ʾlmqh,
23  Lord of ʾwm, grant them good crops and harvests that will
24  satisfy them in all their lands and their valleys
25  and their irrigated fields in Mryb and Ns²qm and Rḥbtn.
26  By ʿṯtr and Hbs¹ and ʾlmqh and by ḏt
27  Ḥmym and by ḏt Bʿdnm and by the solar deity of the king, Tnf.
13mwtt: Beeston prefers the general sense of "mortal sickness", instead of Jamme's "epilepsy" based on one meaning of Ar. mūtat.
