TRANSLATIONS

English

1  [... ...] this ? in praise because (the god) may grant
2  [... ...] continue to grant to His servant Brqm male sons
3  [... ...] him the acquisition, the clearing, the tilling and the planting of his ground
4  [... ...] granted (?) him the purchase of their irrigated field ḏ-Ṣwrt
5  [... ...] good spoils in all the expeditions that he performed with his lords
   6  [... ...]
1Different interpretations have been put forward for the word zltn. Pirenne hypothetically suggests "cette descente dallée". Beeston prefers to identify the object of the dedication with the very support of the text and proposes "tablet, plaque". Jamme compares zlt to Arabic zillat "polished stone": according to him, this stone was placed in the circular cavity of the plaque.
ZLL "to slip".
3Translation by Beeston.
