TRANSLATIONS

English

  Ḥllm, son of Dhyt, Hbs²-
  nyn confessed and did penance
to his Lord ḏ-S¹mwy Master of
  Ġrw, because he entered
the temple and on his reins (he wore)
a belt which was not clean,
and because he entered the temple
and he touched a lustful (?) woman.
The root WDQ means "to ruin, to fall down". However, the editors propose to translate the word mhwdq as "ġalimat" ("lustful") referred to the woman, on the basis of a comparison found in the Lisān al-ʿArab, where the word refers to female animals desirous to couple.
