GENERAL NOTES

Line 1. The first letter, ʿayn, is carved into the frame of the inscription.
Line 4. At the end of the line the mason mistakenly carved a word-divider between the r and the ḍ in the expression f-rḍy-h.
Altheim and Stiehl and van den Branden consider this inscription and U 019, as one text.

2-3Abū l-Ḥasan reads the expression ʾṭl h-ṭll for ʾẓl h-ẓll.

6Farès-Drappeau does not read the last word ḥrm.

   1  ʿms¹ʿd son of K-
   2  brh performed the ẓll-ceremony
   3  for ḏ-Ġbt for the sake
   4  of his property and so may he favour
   5  him and may he help him and his des-
   6  cendants and his son Ḥrm.

NotesFound in Al-ʿUḏayb (Ǧabal ʿIkmah). The inscription is carved amongst of a mass of others on one side of the huge rock, which Stiehl called 'Block A'. It is below U 017, to the left of U 014, to the right of U 021 and above U 019.
