GENERAL NOTES

The collation of Y.05.B.B.13 and Y.05.B.B.12 is suggested by Multhoff 2019: 8 on the basis of textual elements (above all, the same dedicant). However, Agostini 2021: 157 remarks that the collation - though possible - is not certain, mainly based on the archaeological context of the two objects: their position suggests to exclude that Y.05.B.B.13 was originally placed above Y.05.B.B.12.

2, 4Agostini 2011 translated the words from the root NQL as "transport". CSAI proposed the alternative interpretation of "quarry, excavation". Agostini 2021 translated "cava, scavo". On the root NQL, see Rossi 2022: 128.

CULTURAL NOTES

The author of the inscription was charged by the king of Maʿīn Wqhʾl Rym with the construction works in the temple of ʿṯtr ḏ-Qbḍm, "bytn Qbḍm". In this inscription he dedicated some votive objects, namely the offering tables of the temple, that were found in situ during the excavations (see Y.04.B.B.11, Y.05.B.B.1, Y.05.B.B.9, Y.05.B.B.10; three of them are engraved with the monogram of the dedicant's family Ġzr). He also recorded the building of the tower Ṣdqn on the city walls.
