GENERAL NOTES

"Text B is added in small characters, and is not part of the main decoration of the bowl. It is unclear whether this is an addition by later owners, or by craftsmen (as a signature)" (Kitchen). There is no photo available for this object, therefore it is not known where this second inscription was written.

The word ḥw is interpreted as a common noun (Kitchen and Bron).

1-2Saʿūl and Nakab, Abkarib, servants/clansmen" (Kitchen); "A exécuté et façonné au repoussé Abūkarib ..." (Bron); "ḥw reste énigmatique" (Bron). Bron compares the words s¹ʿl and nkb to Geʿez saʿala "former, dessiner" and nakaba "courber, fléchir" respectively.
