CULTURAL NOTES

It is highly remarkable to find an inscription by a priest of the god ʿṯtr ḏ-Ẓhr Ys¹r in such a faraway place. These rock inscriptions (al-Saʿīd 1997) were in fact engraved by members of the tribe S²ddm who probably followed Ḥimyarite king in some of their military expeditions outside South Arabia (cf. nr. 3).
