CULTURAL NOTES

The translation of ḏ-mḥrb as "de la chancellerie" suggested by the editors comes from the sense of miḥrāb in south Arabian sources, where it should indicate the audience chamber, where kings and high individuals receive people.
The term, come into use only in late Sabaic texts, could be parallel with the more ancient ms³wd, and with the mafraj of the Yemeni present-day houses (see also Gar nuove iscrizioni 3).
