GENERAL NOTES

The inscription is badly incised.
Line 4. Below this line there are four letters which appear to read (w)ʾd(b). It is not certain what these signify or whether they are part of this text. The phrase f rḍ -h in these texts is normally followed by w s¹ʿd -h or w ʾḫrt -h or both.
Line 5. This line seems not to belong to this inscription, not even seems to belong to any of the neighbouring inscriptions.

1-2Sima treats the second name in the double name as a lineage name. Thus, he translates 'of the family of N'.

NotesFound in Al-ʿUḏayb (Ǧabal ʿIkmah). The inscription is incised amongst a mass of others on one side of the huge rock, which Stiehl called ‘Block A’. It is below U 014, to the left of U 008 (the last line), to the right of U 019, and above U 016.
