3S. al-Theeb reads an ʾ at the end of ʿlm (ʿlmʾ) but this X sign is not a letter. It is a symbol which is sometimes found either before or at the end of texts, as in Ar 129.

   1  May Tymw son of Rwfs
   2  and Ḥyw son of Nʿrt be remembered in well-being
   3  and may they be safe for ever.
