Notes on support and decorationsThe face of the strip is decorated with very small granules as beading enclosing plain strips and groups of four hollow hemispherical granules, with a row of larger granules above; the flat plain reverse has three equally spaced loops which were intended for attachment.

CULTURAL NOTES

The attachment loops imply that this object was an appliqué which was originally fastened to cloth or leather. This type of appliqué has a lengthy history on the Russian steppe but became more popular across the Near East during and after the Achaemenid period.
