TRANSLATIONS

English

1  Ḫlḥmd of the family Gldn, daughter of the family Ḥnzm, built and founded
2  and completed the house Tbʿm, and she helped her two husbands
3  S²rḥm and S²ʿbm and her sons of the family Gldn with a thousand
4  coins, until she redeemed a debt from the descendants and for the man of Ṣirwāḥ (?).
4Abdallāh translates ʿḏrn as "fine".

CULTURAL NOTES

The text could be an example of polyandry in South Arabia. The dedicator names her two husbands, but the meaning of bʿly as "two husbands" is not sure, it could have a more generic meaning: "her two masters".
