TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Ġwṯm [... ...]r and ʾs¹lm, and their son ʾbkrb,
   2  of ʿynwm, descendants of the clan Gmyln ʿrgn, ʾkbr
   3  of the tribe Mydʿm, and the highlands of the (wādī) ʾḏnt,dedicated to
   4  ʾlmqh Ṯhwn, Lord of ʾwm, these two statues by both of which
   5  Ġwṯm has praised the power of ʾlmqh, because ʾlmqh has granted
   6  all the favours that he had sought Him, for the construction of their house
   7  S¹lḥn of Gmyln, and because He accomplished the oracular decision to his son
   8  ʾbkrb, and because He brought about a successful conclusion the expeditions and the missions on which
   9  his lord Ns²ʾkrb Yhʾnm, king of Sabaʾ, son of
  10  Ḏmrʿly Ḏrḥ dispatched him in the country of the ʿrbn, in order to seek out
  11  and seize some bedouin auxiliaries accompanying from the vicinity of the town of Mryb.
  12  So they sought out, seized and captured those men of their
  13  auxiliary troops, and confiscated their riding camels since the men
  14  had made off into the desert with their camels; and they brought them back to the city of
  15  Mryb [... ...]his lord Ns²ʾkrb, king of Sabaʾ; and
  16  Ġwṯm has praised the power of ʾlmqh, because He has granted to them
  17  the favours he has besought Him; and that ʾlmqh may continue to
  18  grant to His servant Ġwṯm prosperity and the goodwill of their lord
  19  Ns²ʾkrb Yhʾnm, king of Sabaʾ, son of Ḏmrʿly Ḏrḥ.
  20  By ʿṯtr and Hwbs¹ and ʾlmqh and by ḏt-Ḥmym and by
  21  ḏt-Bʿdnm and by the solar deity of the king Tnf, and by ʾlmqh ḏ-Gblm.
