Chronology |
|
The inscription could be a legal text (see note to l.1) or a construction text. |
1 | According to the editors, the interpretation of Ṣdq as the second name of the author of the text is anachronistic: other texts from the wādī Raġwān mention only the first name of the author. Therefore, they suggest that ṣdq is a verb. |
2-3 | The editors consider the name S²bʿn a toponym. In MAFRAY-Ḫirbat Saʿūd 8, it is the name of a construction on the walls of the town. In the town of Nashq it is the name of the sanctuary of ʾlmqh. |
English | |
1 Hlkʾmr has claimed proprietorial rights on [... ...] 2 [... ...] all the property of S²b‒ 3 ʿn this basin. |
1 | Alternative translation: Hlkʾmr Ṣdq son [of ... ...] |
2-3 | The editors translate "[... ...] par tout abitant de S²bʿn, de ce reservoir". For the interpretations proposed by the previous editors, see Robin and Ryckmans 1980: 137-138. |
