GENERAL NOTES

The author of the text is the same author of YMN 9, YMN 10, MAFRAY-al-Miʿsāl 4. In this last text the same king of Ḥaḍramawt is also mentioned.

   4  nn ʿs²rt (ʾ)ʾlfm ḥblm w-mrwynhn T(g)b w-Tgyb w-kl ʾ—

3mwqrt is attested in YMN 13, 5. A reading mwfrt is also possible.

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Nṣrm Yhḥmd, of the family Mʿhr and Ḫwln
   2  qyl of Rdmn and Ḫwln, planted, repaired, completed his
   3  vineyard ʾġnm, which is at the entrance of the city Qḏḥt; he planted in that vineyard
   4   ten thousand rows of vines and two irrigation systems Tgb and Tgyb and all
   5  [... ...] the vineyard ʾġnm, with the help and the power of his lord ʾlʿz Ylṭ, the king of Ḥḍrmt,
   6  the son of ʿmḏḫr, and with the help of ʿṯtr S²rqn, S¹yn ḏ-ʾlm, ʿm
   7  ḏ-Mrqbm, with the might of their tribe Rdmn and Ḫwln, according to
   8  ʾnby in the year one hundred forty of the years, for Ḥḍrmt
   9  is (corresponding to) the second year of ʾḏrm, of the family Ḥbylm.

CULTURAL NOTES

The text is dated on the basis of the Radmanite era. The concordance with a Ḥaḍramite second eponym year (ṯnyhn, with the Ḥaḍramitic determinative article -hn) is noteworthy.
