GENERAL NOTES

It is doubtful whether the inscription originally came from Bayt Ġufr or from the nearby ʿIrrān, as the text records the construction of a house in the site of ʿrn.

TEXT

   1  [..]ʿ[.]t w-ʾ(l)s¹ʿd (ʾ)rym w-ʾḫ—
   2  [y-h]my w-bny-hmy bny ḏ-Rglt
   3  [...](ʿ) Mrml brʾw w-hwṯrn w-hs²q—
   4  [rn by](t)-hm Yfʿn ḏ-b-hgrn ʿr(n) |

Apparatus
1[Lḥyʿṯ]t (CIH). The copy records ʾrym, while in the facsimile the first letter seems a S¹.
2An empty space between m and y of w-bny-hmy in the RW (Rathjens and Wissmann) facsimile (Mordtmann and Mittwoch: 127), is filled with a circle (to be restored as a w) in Glaser's facsimile. It probably was an erased writing error (cf. Stein 2003 a: 135); ḏ with three horizontal traits.
3[hw]rw (CIH); it is probable that Mrml is a toponym, corresponding to modern Marmal - near Banī Zubayr - where there was a sanctuary of Tʾlb.
