GENERAL NOTES

Like other inscriptions on the walls of Baraqish, this is a construction and also a dedicatory text: the dedication verb s³lʾ is in coordination with the construction verb bny.

   2  r S¹ḥfn kbr ʾdm mlk M—
   3  ʿn w-ʾdm mlk Mʿn s³l—
   4  ʾ w-bny mḥfdn Ys²bm

Apparatus
1The reading Ġzr in B-M 280 instead of Bzr of the previous editions is confirmed by two occurrences of the family Ġzr S¹ḥfn in Y.05.B.B 13.

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Rṯdʾl son of Wddʾl of the family Ġz-
   2  r S¹ḥfn, kbr of the servants of the king of Maʿīn,
   3  and the servants of the king of Maʿīn dedicated
   4  and built the tower Ys²bm.
