TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  [... ...] and the ʾqwl and the tribes [... ...] of Mryb; and they did battle with the Ḥaḍramawt and its army [... ...]
   2  Ydʿʾl, king of Ḥaḍramawt, and his army; and among the army of the king of Ḥaḍramawt were killed two thousand men; and they (sc. the Sabaeans) killed or seized their horses and all
   3  [... ...] their camels and their asses, and all the wounded persons who were with the king of Ḥaḍramawt and his army; and Ydʿʾl, king of Ḥaḍramawt, and the survivors of his army retired in [... ...],
   4  rout and disorder; and Ns²ʾkrb and Ṯwbn, of the family Grt, praised the power of ʾlmqhw, Lord of ʾwm, because He favoured their lord Krbʾl Byn in routing and throwing into disorder
   5  and defeating the king of the Ḥaḍramawt and his army in that attack; and Ns²ʾkrb of the family Grt continued to praise the power of ʾlmqhw, Lord of ʾwm, because ʾlmqhw granted favours to His servant
   6  Ns²ʾkrb, of the family Grt, and their tribe S¹mhrm in that attack for the success and killings and booty and good plunder from the tribe of Ḥaḍramawt and with it (sc. the dedication) they praised

   8  S¹lḥn and its lords and may he protect His servants Ns²ʾkrb and Ṯwbn, of the family Grt, and their tribe S¹mhrm and all their ql and their tribes, and so that ʾlmqhw grants him the satifaction of his lord
   9  Krbʾl Byn, king of Sabaʾ, and proper prosperity and soundness of faculties and material resources and may He defeat the war and the enemy of their lord the king of Sabaʾ and may He defeat the war and the enemy of His servants, the family Grt. By ʿṯtr and
  10  Hwbs¹ and ʾlmqhw and the gods of the town of Mryb and by their gods ʿṯtr ʿzzn and ḏt Ẓhrn, Lords of the citadel Knn, and they committed their dedication to ʿṯtr S²rqn and ʾlmqhw, Lord of ʾwm.
