CULTURAL NOTES

The inscription shows the complexity of the south Arabian religious terminology. The dedication is addressed to ʿṯtr S²bʿn, at the line 8 she is named: ḏt S²bʿn and finally ḏt Ḥmym. It seems, therefore, that the name ʿṯtr is alterning with the pronoun ḏt. This text confirms the recent hypothesis of Ch. Robin (2012), for whom the theonym ʿṯtr could be used as a noun "Lady".
