CULTURAL NOTES

"This inscription was engraved by a client of Gashnum b. Gabiyat who was also the author of the inscription Kortler 4. This Gashnum, who belongs to a lineage attested at Qaryat al-Fāw, can be dated very approximately to the first century BCE or CE, from the script used in Kortler 4 (note the very sober letter forms as well as the rāʾ with the broken curve)" (Robin 2010 a: 365).
