Textual typology | Dedicatory text |
It is difficult to propose the chronology of this text, because of its not archaic graphic style (very similar to that of Goam 317) and the attestation of the god ʿṯtr ḏ-Rṣfm which is absent in the texts of the Minaean period of Nashshān. We exclude a post-Minaean dating of this text (see the remarks to as-Sawdāʾ 16). Probably, the text dates back to a moment of transition between periods A and B, before the first abandonment of the temple. |
1 | Dextrograde ḫ. |
1-2 | There is a word separator at the beginning of l.2, in the middle of the word Ḫrztm. Arbach, instead, considers Bḫr and ztm two different words, the first as the name of the dedicant's father (referred to the previous ʾb-s¹, but in contrast with the patronymic at the beginning of the inscription), the second without translation. |
