TRANSLATIONS

English

1  Rṯdṯwn, of the family Qs²mn,
2  dedicated to ʾlmqh Ṯhwn, Lord
3  of ʾwm, the statue in bronze as he had
4  promised Him for his safety and his wife
5  (also dedicated) a female statue, for their safety and
6  the safety of their children, and they praised
7  the power of ʾlmqh, because He delivered them from
8  a calamity, which had fallen upon them, and may He save
   9  their persons from evil
  10  and mischief; by ʾlmqh.
7-8Jamme relates ḫl to ḫyl, while Beeston in CIAS to Ar. ḫallā "set free".
Jamme: "and they praised ʾIlumquh for having forced them out of a confrontation which occurred upon them".
The root qbl implies the idea of something facing something else.
