CULTURAL NOTES

This text records a dedication to ʿṯtr ḏ-Ḏbn by Ydʿʾb ʾmr, son of the Nashshānite king S¹mhyfʿ Ys¹rn defeated by Krbʾl Wtr. The mention of the Sabaean god in the Minaic corpus occurs only in another ancient inscription (Shaqab 8). It would be interesting to verify if the mention of ḏ-Trḥ in as-Sawdāʾ 4 (dedicated by S¹mhyfʿ), refers to the very Sabaean sanctuary of this god on the Jebel al-Lawdh.
