1 Mḫṭrn ʾs¹ʾr of Ydʿʾl ibn Maʿāhir 2 and ḏ-Ḫwln, son of Mʿdkrb Yhmgd, qylw 3 of Rdmn and Ḫwln, dug up, built, completed 4 and filled with earth the control dyke, its opening and all the 5 earth filling and channels of this dyke for their 6 vineyards and their land, that in the valley of Yf- 7 dʾb, by the help of ʿm ḏ-Mbrqm, Master of S¹l- 8 ym et Lmmm, ʿtr ḏ-Nwfn, ḏt-B- 9 ʿdn and their solar deity ʿlyt, and by the power and the mobilization 10 of their tribe Rdmn Yhrgb. |
The terms hwḥl and mlbd are translated respectively on the basis of the Ar. waḥal "bourbier, fange, boue fine, claire" and labbada "coller les parties terreuses entre elles" (Robin 1991: 181-182). | |
The sing. feminine relative pronoun ḏt should only refer to ʾrḍ-hmw, and the latter noun is therefore at sing. as well, although having a collective meaning. |
