   1  Ḏrʾkrb bn ʾbʿly ḏ-Ġrbm
   2  tqdm w-(s¹)ʿs²q krf Mbʿrm
   3  ḥḍr l-S²hr Hll bn Ydʿʾb

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Ḏrʾkrb, son of ʾbʿly, of the family Ġrb,
   2  directed and cut the basin of Mbʿrm
   3  which he offered to S²hr Hll son of Ydʿʾb.
3Müller 2005: 249 translates ḥḍr "zum Verweilen".

CULTURAL NOTES

The rock inscription was found near Taʿizz. An involvement of the kingdom of Qataban in the sea trade from the fourth-third century BC could be hypothesized.
