Apparatus
1On the basis of its position in the text, we consider ʿmd a previously unknown epithet of Wd, but it is not excluded that it is the name of the group of the dedicant, which is not specified after the genealogy.

   1  Nbṭkrb Ṣdq priest of Wd ḏ-ʿmd, son of Hʿḏbwd, father of ʾbqwm amd ʿmkrb,
   2  built and cultivated Ydʿ; by the command of Wdm and ʿṯtr S²rqn and Mtb Qbḍm and Nkrḥm,
   3  by the alliance of Yṯʿʾl and Ṣbḥm and by Yṯʿʾmr and Ḏmrʿly and Yqhmlk of Nashshān.

CULTURAL NOTES

The text attests an alliance between the kings of Maʿīn Yṯʿʾl and Ṣbḥm, the kings of Saba Yṯʿʾmr and Ḏmrʿly and the king of Nashshan Yqhmlk. It is probably to be dated at the end of the 8th-beginning of the 7th century BC.
