[... ...] 1 and the men [... ...] with him [..] 2 the town of ʿbdn when the citizens of the 3 town ʿbdn had consented to make their submission in favour of Ḥaḍramawt 4 and to fortify their town, and Rbbm gave 5 thanks because ʾlmqh granted 6 [... ...] and the men with him, the town 7 ʿbdn; and they placed in the town a garrison force 8 and seized hostages from them; may ʾlmqh continue 9 to grant to them prosperity and the goodwill 10 and the satisfaction of their lord S²ʿrm ʾwtr king 11 of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān son of ʿlhn 12 Nhfn king of Sabaʾ, by ʾlmqh Master 13 of ʾwm and their lord S²ʿr ʾwtr. |
2-4 | Jamme translated the sentence nʿmw ... ... ḫys¹ b-ʿbr Ḥḍrmt as "avaient accepté de se séparer du Ḥaḍramawt", confronting ḫys¹ with Ar. ḫāsa "to break" and giving a negative sense to b-ʿbr. According to him, the lords of the town decided to separate from Ḥaḍramawt, so the author of the text came with the Sabaean army to reinforce the town and took hostages among the Ḥaḍrami people present in there.
