Notes on support and decorations | Yellow calcite-alabaster head, with close set eyes indicated in incised outline (originally painted), a weak brow, a large triangular flat nose with drilled nostrils, a pouting mouth, a rounded chin with strong jaw, a thick neck, and slightly protruding ears. The head has a masculine aspect. The head was probably originally set in an inscribed base or displayed inside a niche. The poll and back are roughly carved and covered in angular tool marks. |
