Notes on support and decorations | The front side of this fragmentary incense burner presents a decoration and an inscription in bas-relief on two superimposed levels: a boomerang-shaped crescent moon is carved above the text. It is flanked by two vertical rectangles on each side forming a simplified false windows motif. A series of triangles decorates both the upper and the lower edges. The burner, which perhaps had a double compartment, preserves the upper fragment of the supporting base, which was probably a truncated pyramidal base. |
