Notes on support and decorations | Statue of Awsanite king wearing a plain, long dress with wrap-around skirt, sandals (with high sole and a thong between the second and third toe) and various jewels: an armlet and two bracelets on his left arm and a finger ring on the left hand, between the first and second joint of his fourth finger. Facial features well characterized: long wavy hair with central parting, divided in five locks, large almond-shaped eyes made with inlays, straight nose (restored), fleshy mouth, large moustache and sparse beard realized with dots. The hole on the left closed hand suggests that the king held something, probably a sceptre. Noteworthy: only left arm and hand, holding a sceptre or some symbol of power, wear jewellery. Inscription filled with black colour. |
