Notes on support and decorations | The crescent moon with disc symbol is carved in bas-relief on the front face of the incense burner's top, at the height of a band of rectangular dentils running along the sides of the burner. The upper, slightly rounded edge of the burner, whose front face is taller than the other ones, is decorated by a series of short vertical grooves reminding of merlons. Such decoration evokes the friezes of stylized ibex heads observed on the offering tables in Barāqish temples (cf. Marion de Procé). A symbol of Nkrḥ is carved on the front side of the object's base. |
