Notes on support and decorations | Large limestone bull’s head with v-shaped channel running between its eyes. There are wrinkles around the eyes and on the snout; the horns are missing. There are traces of brown paint on the snout and in the gutter. The bull is finely detailed from the underside, with the mouth, nostrils and neck muscles carefully carved, which may indicate that it was intended to be seen from below. The monumental size indicates that the object was an architectural element. |
