Notes on support and decorations | Fragment of alabaster slab with framework preserved for one of the lateral sides. The decoration of a series of ibexes (two preserved), in frontal position and standing on a plinth, suggests the possibility that this fragment belongs to the back of a throne. Big curved horns defined with horizontal grooves and prominent globular eyes. The animal are deeply carved in the stone but are attached to the panel in the back. High relief. There is probably a fragmentary symbol (maybe letter B?) or monogram below the last line. Note: for comparisons see the Nashshan thrones (Garbini-Francaviglia 1-2-3) and YM 23249. There is probably a fragmentary symbol (maybe letter B?) or monogram below the last line. |
