Notes on support and decorations | A lower portion of a statuette of a standing figure wearing a knee length plain skirt or tunic. This figure is carved from a recycled, finely carved, highly polished, object with architectural motifs on either side of a corner. False window decoration and highly polished surface appears on the under surface of the base and on the right side of the base. The front of the base was also once a polished side of the original object. The architectural motifs on the original object include a false window and what appears to be a door. The original object was a large flat object with three polished sides and one smoothed under-side surface. It may have been a model of a temple, or architectural decoration on an offering table, statue base, or architectural element. The back of figure’s skirt is finished and is largely the original surface. The leg section on the back of the figure is roughly tooled and carved in from original surface. There is a dull polish on figure, which contrasts with the highly polished surface on the base. |
