TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Lbʾn Ydʿ son of Ydʿʾb built S¹ywḍ, the temple of ʿṯtr Mtb Ḫmr, by the will of ʿṯtr S²rqn
   2  and Wd and ʾrnydʿ and ʿṯtr ḏ-Grb and ʿṯtr Ns²q, by the brotherhood of ʾlmqh and Krbʾl and Sabaʾ.

CULTURAL NOTES

The formulaic expression introduced by b-ʾḫwt is found in some Nashshānite inscriptions of the Madhabaean period, testifying the alliance (literally "brotherhood") between the tribes of Nashshān and Sabaʾ.

The epithet Mtb Ḫmr for th god ʿṯtr is found only in this inscription (it might be restored in as-Sawdāʾ 18).
