CULTURAL NOTES
Similarly to Qataban mukarrib, in this text a private individual declares himself "firstborn" (bkr) of the divine couple Wrḫ and Ṣwrt (see also CSAI I, 1090=Ry 526). However, the mukarrib is "first born" of ʾnby and Ḥwkm. If we were to attribute a role for these divinities of the Qataban pantheon, that of the gods ʾnby and Ḥwkm would certainly have to be "political and public" while Wrḫ and Ṣwrt would be more private and family-oriented.
