Apparatus
1Robin, Prioletta :157, n. 137 suggested that the first name is a theophoric name with S²ms¹, so they read [...]ms¹ | |. The engraver wrote wrongly two traits of word separation.

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  [..]ms¹[.] son of ʿms²fq from the family of Mrʾb-
   2  [....] the one of the family S¹wfm, one of Ġr, built and re-
   3  stored the walls of the shrine of S²ms¹ and of hal-Lāt and
   4  of the monument of Nlrgl, under the command of his lord Ydʿ-
   5  ʾb Ḏbyn son of S²hr king of Qatabān, the
   6  month of Ḏbḥtm, the first year of Nbṭʿm ḏ-Ḏ-
   7  rḥn and it was uncontaminated this inscription.

CULTURAL NOTES

The authors of the inscription are from Gerrha.

The inscription is written during "the month of Ḏbḥtm, the first year of Nbṭʿm of Ḏrḥn". The dating on the basis of an eponymous' year is typical in Qatabanic of legal texts.
