TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Frʿm son of Mqrm and his sons
   2  S²rḥṯt, Hwfʿṯt and S¹ʾdʿwm
   3  descendants of ḏ-ʿqbn, dedicated to ʾlmqh
   4  Ṯhwn, Lord of ʾwm, the statue in bronze, in praise
   5  because he constructed and completed and finished off the
   6  cistern (?), the hall and the upper rooms of their palace
   7  ḏ-ʿqbn, and may ʾlmqh grant them prosperity
   8  and the goodwill and the satisfaction of their lord
   9  Wtrm Yhʾmn, king of Sabaʾ and ḏu-Raydān,
  10  son of ʾls²rḥ Yḥḍb, king of Sabaʾ
  11  and ḏu-Raydān, and may ʾlmqh help them
  12  against the malice of the enemy, by ʿṯtr and ʾlmqh.
5-7"they have built and covered and repaired the cistern and the incense-burner sanctuary and the upper room of their house, that of ʿqbn" (Jamme); s¹qh is translated on the basis of the Arabic siqqāyat "cistern, reservoir".
