TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  S²rḥʿṯt ʾs²wʿ and his son
   2  Mrṯdm, of the family S¹ḫymm,
   3  lords of the house Rymn,
   4  ʾqwl of the tribe Yrs¹m, of S¹mʿy,
   5  the third of Hgrm, dedicated to their lord
   6  ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm, a statue
   7  in bronze which promised to Him
   8  His servant S²rḥʿṯt ʾs²wʿ,
   9  in praise because He saved His servant from a sickness
  10  which he suffered in Ẓfr and in consequence of this
  11  he has been reduced to feebleness by physical suffering; and
  12  he praised the power and the might of his lord
  13  ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm, because
  14  He protected His servant from this disease;
  15  and may continue ʾlmqh to preserve
  16  the person of His servant from all disease
  17  and mischief and misfortune;
  18  and may He save His two servants
  19  S²rḥṯt and Mrṯdm, of the family
  20  S¹ḫymm; and may He grant them
  21  the favour and the goodwill of their two lords Ṯʾrn
  22  Yhnʿm and his son Mlkkrb
  23  Yhʾmn, the two kings of Sabaʾ and ḏu-
  24  Raydān and Ḥaḍramawt and Ymnt;
  25  and may He grant to them fruit crops and
  26  harvests well-watered and wheat and
  27  barley in their land and in
  28  their valley; and may He grant them that
  29  for them in their channels in
  30  their valleys rain water could collect. By ʾlmqh,
  31  Lord of ʾwm.
29-30Following Nebes 1987: 91, n. 34 the subject could be ʾġyl-hmw: "He granted them that for them their channels in their valleys collect (rain water)" or "He granted them that for them their 'ġayls' in their valleys could flow".
