   7  y grybt-hmw w-wfy ʾwld-h—
   8  mw w-l-ḫmr-hmw ʾlmqh rḍw-
   9  [h]w w-rḍw ʾmrʾ-hmw ʾmlkn

TRANSLATIONS

English

   1  Lḥyʿṯt, the tly and his
   2  wife Ḥmdlt, vassals
   3  of the king, inhabitants of the town Ṣnʿw,
   4  dedicated to ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm, this statue
   5  in bronze as they promised, Lḥyʿṯt and
   6  his wife to ʾlmqh, Lord of ʾwm, for the well-being
   7  of their persons and the well-being of their children
   8  and may ʾlmqh grant them His favour
   9  and the favour of their lords, the kings.

NotesPerhaps the origin of the stone was from the temple of ʾlmqh bʿl ʾwm ḏ-ʿrn ʾlw (N of Shibām Kawkabān). It could also come from Maḥram Bilqīs.

The owner relates that the object came from ancient Ṣanʿāʾ.
