CULTURAL NOTES

There are five inscriptions referring to Abīyathaʿ in the region of Najrān and wādī al-Shuḍayf. This personage is a local prince, descendant of the Amir kings and probably a king himself. He could be approximately dated to the 4th-3rd c. BC. Besides, it is not certain whether Abīyathaʿ of Najrān should be identified with the personage with this name found on the Arabian coins with imitation of Alexander (Robin and Prioletta 2013: 163).
