CULTURAL NOTES
This text was written by a qyl of the tribe of ḏ-Ḥlzw. The use of this title "became generalized in the period of the kings of Sabaʾ and dhu-Raydān, to indicate the noble caste of the tribes of Yemen high plateau The fact that the tribe of Ḥalzaw in the eastern lowlands were now governed by a qayl indicates that its organization was similar to that of the frontier tribes, first and foremost the Radmān, but also the Maḍḥī" (Prioletta 2013: 119).
The god Bs²mm in the sanctuary Ḫrf is given the epithet Yṯʿn. This is also the epithet of the god ʾrnydʿ in the reliefs of the intra-muros temple in Nashshan, dating to the 8th century.Yṯʿn is also found in onomastic texts from wādī Lajiya (Prioletta 2013: 117-119).
The verb s¹bʾ (l.3) introduced a military episode probably "linked to the period of clashes between various tribes that had broken away from the Kingdom of Qatabān, as mentioned in CSAI II, 14 and MQ dhū-Nāʿim". (Prioletta 2013: 119).
