GENERAL NOTES

A. Prioletta notes that the text is contemporary to CSAI II, 14=RES 4336 and UAM 507.
The restorations are based on the comparison with the almost identical inscription UAM 507 (Prioletta 2013: 119).

Apparatus
2-3"Comparing the formulas of the texts from Ḥalzaw and counting the number of supposedly missing letters, I believe that the name of the god could have been followed—in the lacuna between ll. 2 and 3—by a phrase such as: bʿl Ḫrf w-Nʿlm ʿd mḥrm-s¹ Ḫrf (Makyāsh — al-Zubaydī 2008/3-4) or bʿl Ḫrf w-Nʿlm ʿd mḥrm-s¹ Nʿlm (CSAI II, 14/1)" (Prioletta 2013: 119, fn. 56).
5"After the verb s¹ʾmn I would be tempted to restore w-[mtʿ] (cf. CSAI II, 14/3-4), but the first legible letter after s¹ʾmn seems to be a ʿ" (Prioletta 2013: 119, fn. 57).
"in the syntagm l-zʾ—zʾ must be interpreted as an abbreviated form of a prefix-conjugation (yzʾ) rather than of an infinitive" (Prioletta 2013: 120, fn. 60).

CULTURAL NOTES

A comparison between MAFRAY-Hajar Warrāṣ 3 and CSAI II, 14 = RES 4336 "allows us to re-interpret a crucial passage pertaining to the god Bs²mm, on the basis of which this deity was belived to be a goddess" (Prioletta 2013: 114).
