| Notes on support and decorations | Pillar decorated with a vertical series of panels representing ritual scenes with anthropomorphic divinities. The scene as-Sawdāʾ TA 1A 1 is the first from the top of the pillar. It represents two standing gods in profile, one in front of the other: the one on the left is ʿṯtr. They wear long embroidered dress with cloacks. Heads missed. With the right hands they keep two long sticks, probably tied together with a rope. The scene is framed by trees with branches and fruits. Couples of horned animals (antelopes?) with forelegs on the trunk of the tree. This scene presumably must have been specular to the first panel, now lost, of the pillar 1A. |
