| Notes on support and decorations | Incense burner with a splayed foot, supporting a cylindrical short bowl (the censer) inscribed on the external wall. Censer ending in a tall rectangular wall (a sort of back), decorated on the external side with various ornaments: dentils, the double symbol of the moon and disc and a snake parallel to each side. The lower half is free of ornament but, according to Jamme, was originally occupied by a full relief small ibex (see the bronze incense burner from Maʾrib with ibex figure, BM 132909). Lost wax casting. |
