| Notes on support and decorations | This bronze plaque, inscribed on all the sides of its framework, represents a moving animal in profile facing left. Although the animal is roughly depicted, the mane and the open jaws suggest that it is a lion. A tree (probably a palm tree) is represented in the middle of the animal’s back. The subject is similar to that of a plaque from ʿAmrān housed in the British Museum (CIH 72), although its style is much more rough and approximate. |
