| Notes on support and decorations | A carved calcite-alabaster female head with delicate features, realistically sized eyes hollowed out for inlay, a fine slender nose, a pouting mouth and ears positioned high on the head. The head ends abruptly at the hairline. The head was originally set in an inscribed base or displayed inside a niche. The bedding plane of stone runs horizontally, which has resulted in a disfiguring band across the mouth area. The surface is smooth but not polished. |
